A dump truck collided with the Music City Star commuter train in Hermitage on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. near Old Hickory Boulevard.
The conductor reported to police that he could see the truck when he crossed Old Hickory and the driver had ample time to move. The driver, however, did not move and the train was not able to stop.
Police told Nashville's News 2 the railroad crossing lights were working at the time.
There were 216 people on board the train at the time of the crash.
The driver of the truck was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-critical injuries.
None of the passengers were injured. Another train was brought to the scene to take the passengers downtown.
The train involved in the crash was taken back to Lebanon.
There was no immediate word on whether investigators were able to talk to the dump truck driver before he was taken to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
