SHARPS CHAPEL (WATE) - The bodies of two adults were found early Tuesday in the hot tub of a Sharps Chapel home.

The discovery was made at a home on Lakeview Drive in Sharps Chapel at about 3:30 a.m.

Union County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Butcher told 6 News the bodies were found in the hot tub. He declined to say how the victims died, but said there were no apparent signs of foul play.

Butcher said a deputy had gone to the house on a welfare check after family members reported they had not heard from the residents there in several days.

Authorities are still working on making a positive identification of the victims.

Law enforcement officers remained parked in front of the home most of the day.

A neighbor says the presence of sheriff's deputies is unfamiliar in their quiet neighborhood.

"That is very surprising around here," said Sylvia O'Malley. "There is never anything going on. We have no security problems. This is very surprising. You never see a sheriff's car in this area."

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
