Political consultant admits to robocalls targeting Campfield

Political consultant admits to robocalls targeting State Sen. Stacey Campfield

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The head of a political consulting firm is the source of robocalls focused on State Sen. Stacey Campfield.

The attorney for Ben Farmer, the head of the firm Cyragon, said Tuesday the calls resulted from a computer error while testing.

Several Knox County residents reported getting the calls repeatedly.

Campfield's opponent, Dr. Richard Briggs, says he had no knowledge of the calls.

Campaign finance records show the Briggs campaign paid $7,000 to Cyragon. Briggs says he has used Farmer as a consultant and will continue to do so.

Campfield called for a TBI investigation.

Farmer met with investigators last Wednesday and his attorney says he would be very surprised if the case is prosecuted.
