LaFOLLETTE (WATE) - LaFollette police now say a man whose body was found in a creek last week fell in accidentally.

The discovery was made at about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday behind Woodland Estates Apartments on Claiborne Road.

The body of Steven Phillips, 40, of LaFollette was found submerged under two feet of water in a creek that runs near the complex.

LaFollette Police Chief Jim Jeffries says an autopsy showed that Phillips drowned and his body showed no signs of injuries prior to the fall.

Detectives think Phillips lost his way in the dark and his death was an accident.
