KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Morristown soldier is recovering in a military hospital in Germany from wounds sustained in a firefight on Tuesday in Afghanistan.

Pvt. Travis Croxdale told 6 News Thursday he was shot twice in the leg.

Croxdale later showed signs of shock and was taken to a hospital, then to Germany.

He spoke with 6 News by phone just hours after getting out of surgery.

"I know that there are a lot of people concerned about me because I'm local, but there's a lot more guys that were hurt other than me that they don't know about," Pvt. Croxdale said. "A lot of other guys that have given their all that they don't know about. Remember the other soldiers as well."

Croxdale will fly Friday to Walter Reed Army Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.
