KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A two-vehicle crash killed a Knoxville man early Saturday morning and closed Interstate 640.

Timothy Porcella, 21, was speeding and lost control of his red Infiniti G35 at about 3:35 a.m., according to the Knoxville Police Department.

The car hit a semi-truck and knocked it onto its side on the I-640 west Broadway ramp.

KPD says Porcella was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported to U.T. Medical Center with minor injuries. The passenger was not injured.

Investigators believe alcohol was involved.

The interstate was closed while the Knoxville Fire Department cleaned up a diesel leak. Accident reconstruction also delayed the reopening.

I-640 West at Broadway reopened around 10 a.m. The Broadway ramp reopened around 9 p.m.
