KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A bus and a car collided Wednesday afternoon in downtown Knoxville, sending five people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Knoxville Area Transit bus was struck at the intersection of Gay Street and Hill Avenue by a car as the bus was making a turn.

The driver of the sedan, the driver of the bus, and three bus passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

Their names were not released.

A KAT spokesperson said the bus driver was treated and released.

The bus was traveling on route number 41, which includes Chapman Highway.
