Victims identified in Walter P. Taylor Homes shootings

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A housing development became the scene of two different shootings Wednesday night.

The first incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Police say upon arrival they found 36-year-old Jack Chesney lying behind the apartment complex of Walter P. Taylor homes.

Chesney was transported to UT Medical Center. He is currently listed as being in stable condition.

The second shooting happened next door to the first shooting around 10:30 p.m.

Officers say 54-year-old Larry Gray was shot two times in front of his apartment. Investigators say he was shot once in the stomach and once in the hip.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made in either shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call Knoxville Police at (865) 215-7212.
