KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Thursday was check-in day for the Tennessee football team, with players officially reporting to campus for the start of preseason practice on Friday.
"It's hard not to be amped up, said quarterback Nathan Peterman.
"It's very exciting thing every year just to start camp and start football again. So I think everybody is going to have that excitement level but also keep a calm and clear head and with successes and failures, just be ready to go back out there."
Peterman was among the players at the UT football complex on Thursday.
Newcomer Woody Quinn arrived from the west coast. Quinn was a scholarship volleyball player at Pepperdine and then California Baptist. Last year, he played football and Volleyball at Santa Ana College.
"I never thought that I would end up here.. when the call came about Tennessee I was extremely excited," Quinn said.
"I just felt out the recruiting process and all the sudden I am here. I feel like I got here two days ago and now we're going to camp. It's been exciting."
The Butch Jones era officially started last December, but the new head football coach now has thirty days and just fifteen practices to get his team ready for the season opener.
"Ya know, it's easy to be excited now, but what happens when you go through the long days of training camp," Jones said during his preseason remarks on Wednesday.
"I am very very interested to see how this team has progressed since spring football."
