ALCOA (WATE) - 18 people were released early Saturday morning from the hospital after being exposed to a chemical irritant at a Texas Roadhouse.

Alcoa Fire Department officials say the restaurant at 334 Fountain View Circle was evacuated Friday night after an employee mixed cleaning materials improperly.

Officials say 18 people were transported to Blount Memorial Hospital to be treated for respiratory irritation.

According to AFD Deputy Chief Tom Daffron, the main chemical component was bleach.

Daffron says that when the bleach was mixed with other chemicals, a gas was created that caused the respiratory problems.

Authorities say Texas Roadhouse should be able to reopen on Saturday.
