NASHVILLE (WATE) - A state website has been updated to provide access to information about outstanding debt for Tennessee county governments.

The information is provided in audits by the Comptroller's Division of Local Government Audit, the Comptroller of the Treasury said in a media release Wednesday.

The Transparency and Accountability for Governments in Tennessee (TAG) website gives citizens a view of government budgets. Information about count governments was added in 2010.

The comptroller's office says in additional information was provided at the request of Sen. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge).

Graphs allow site visitors to compare each county's debt against the state average for county debt.

New functionality allow users to evaluate revenue, expenditure and debt information for up to 95 counties and export the data to Microsoft Excel.

The TAG information is available at the Comptroller of the Treasury web site.
