Multi-vehicle wreck shuts down I-40 in Cocke Co.

NEWPORT (WATE) – A five-vehicle crash shut down a portion of Interstate 40 in Cocke County Wednesday.

Dispatchers say five vehicles were involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon at mile marker 443. One vehicle was on fire. The Tennessee Highway Patrol received a call at about 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.

All eastbound and westbound lanes were closed for a time. Later, only the left westbound lane was affected.

All lanes reopened around 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
