Heavy rain in Nashville area, flash flooding

NASHVILLE (AP) - Heavy rain from the Nashville metro area eastward has triggered flash flooding.

The National Weather Service issued the warning until 8:00 a.m. Thursday for Davidson County and parts of adjacent Wilson and Sumner counties.

Heavy downpours have drenched the area with more than four inches of rain in some spots. Water is running across roads and ponding in low spots on the pavement.

Some streets northwest of the downtown Nashville area were temporarily blocked and WSMV-TV reported some water rescues were required. Residents of at least four homes were evacuated. There have been no reports of injury.

Most of the rain has fallen along and north of Interstate 40.
