Clarksville volunteers push for memorial to Pat Summitt

Posted: Updated:
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A grassroots effort is underway in Clarksville to create a permanent memorial to Pat Summitt.

Local volunteers call themselves the "Pat Head Summitt Project Committee."

They are lobbying for support to build a statue of Summitt, 61, along the northern stretch of the Cumberland River walk.

Not only would there be a statue, but the volunteers would like to see a park named "The Pat Head Summitt Legacy Park."

The project is still in the planning stages.
