Majors donates memorabilia to state library

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Former Volunteers player and coach Johnny Majors has made a second donation to the Tennessee State Library and Archives that allows game plans and other memorabilia from his career to be available for public viewing.

Majors first donated items documenting his football career to the state library in 2004. The College Football Hall of Fame inductee now has made a second donation that more than doubles the amount of available material.

Donated items include game plans, letters to and from fans, personal calendars, photographs, scrapbooks, programs, media guides and newspaper clippings.

Majors played for Tennessee from 1954-56 and finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting his final season. After coaching Pittsburgh to the 1976 national title, Majors returned to his alma mater and went 116-62-8 from 1977-92.
