Authorities tightlipped about discovery of body in Hancock County cemetery

Posted: Updated:

SNEEDVILLE (WATE) - A body was found Monday in a remote area of Hancock County.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department says the unidentified body was discovered about 1:00 p.m.

Authorities would not say if the body was male or female. So far they have not publicly said the discovery is related to a 35-year-old woman who has been missing since July 27.

Kelly Johnson Lee was last seen at her mom's house in Morristown, but investigators thought she may have been in Hancock County when she disappeared.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. A spokesperson said the body was found in Johnson Cemetery, but referred all questions to the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.

The body was sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City for positive identification.
