Jason Davis promoted to editor at Mountain Press

SEVIERVILLE (AP) - Jason Davis has been named editor of The Mountain Press.

The Sevierville newspaper announced the promotion of its long-time sports editor. He will fill the executive position being vacated by the retirement of Stan Voit, who has served as editor for more than eight years.

Voit, who is 63, became editor in 2005. He and his wife Bonnie plan to remain in Sevierville.

Davis is 35 and is a native of LaFollette. His first day as editor will be Monday, Aug. 19.

Publisher Jana Thomasson said Davis earned the post through sterling work as sports editor and his devotion to community newspapers. Thomasson praised Voit's work as exceptional and Voit called the post he is vacating as the best of his career.
