KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two former SEC golfers are leading the field after two rounds at the New Sentinel Open at Fox Den.
Monday qualifier Blayne Barber followed his first-round 66 with a round of 67 on Friday to take the early lead at 9-under par.
Later in the day, Richard Scott posted a round of 66 to take a share of the lead.
Barber played college golf at Auburn. Scott played at Georgia.
Both golfers are looking for their first tour win.
"I have just been playing some good golf lately," said Barber after his Friday round.
"Going back to three weeks ago, things are clicking and I am playing well and I am just trying to keep that momentum going."
The leader board is crowded.
There are five golfers tied at 7-under and twelve more tied at 6-under.
The cut was 3-under.
Knoxville native Wes Roach came up big on Friday, shooting a 67 to make the cut.
Among those who failed to make the cut were 2-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen and Knoxville native Garrett Willis.
Officials have decided to start Saturday's round early-- due to the possibility of wet weather moving into the area.
Play will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the leaders scheduled to tee-off at 12:45 p.m.
