KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville Zoo is asking for help in choosing names for two red panda cubs born at the zoo on June 1.

The pandas are now 11 weeks old and will soon be ready to leave their nest box.

The zoo is now accepting nominations for possible names for the male and female cubs.

Anyone can make a suggestion, which may be chosen as one of the finalists that will then be put out for a public vote.

The zoo encourages name submissions that pay homage to the red pandas' native range in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, India and China. Names that honor the community and culture of East Tennessee are also suggested.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.knoxvillezoo.org or by mail at: "Panda Names," P.O. Box 6040, Knoxville, TN 37914.

Suggestions will also be accepted at the Knoxville Zoo Shop located at the zoo's front gate.

Suggestions will be accepted through August 28, and voting for the finalists will begin August 31.
