KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office has debuted eight new police cruisers.

KCSO says each of the Dodge Chargers costs around $37,000, that includes equipment like lights, computers, and gun racks.

Officials say the cars they've been using, the Crown Victorias, aren't manufactured anymore.

KCSO says the Charges also get better gas mileage, saving tax payers money when it comes to fuel costs.

Officials say field training officers will be behind the wheels of the new cruisers.

The department anticipates 25 more of the cruisers to be on the streets by the year's end.
