KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The daughter of a Knox County Sheriff's Office deputy was recognized for her actions on Tuesday evening.

Rylee Rudder, 10, was presented with a Citizen Award by KCSO during a ceremony at the Knoxville Elks Lodge.

Rylee lives in a subdivision that is still under development, which leaves a lot of construction materials around her neighborhood.

She says she was on her way to bed one night when she noticed a person loading materials into the back of a vehicle, thinking he looked suspicious, she woke up her dad.

"I told my dad to go get his stuff and go get them," Rylee said.

Thanks to Rylee, the suspect was caught by officers.

"She got me out of bed and said she just saw a crime," Rylee's father Tom Rudder said. "She wanted me to go get 'em. So, I got 'em."
