KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A local group thrust into the spotlight on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" broke ground on a new project Wednesday morning.

Restoration House began work on "The Village," a new facility to help low-income single mothers in the Knoxville area.

The project includes 24 multi-bedroom units, and will provide more than four times the organization's current space.

"It's so exciting, especially since it's happening in my own backyard," Veronica Williams, a mom currently in the program, said while laughing. "I think it's phenomenal."

Restoration House is run by Daniel and Mandy Watson. They were featured last year on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

The Village will be located across from the Watsons' new home. Construction is expected to take four months.
