U.S. Department of Labor launches investigation into Oak Ridge non-profit

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The United States Department of Labor has launched an investigation into a center that serves developmentally delayed children and adults.

The Wage and Hour division of the DOL is investigating the Emory Valley Center in Oak Ridge, according to the organization.

No further details of the investigation have been released.

A statement from Emory Valley Center says that they are working with government auditors on what the center understands to be a routine compliance check.

The statement goes on to say that "it seems apparent that unfounded rumors are being started by an unknown source. We are, as always, fully cooperating with the auditors and committed to operating Emory Valley Center in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

The center offers educational, vocational, and rehab programs.
