Children's auditions to be held for Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas

SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Children can audition for Dollywood's award-winning Smoky Mountain Christmas festival on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The auditions will be held at the Connor-Short Center on the Sevierville campus of Walters State Community College from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

"This is an amazing opportunity for area kids to come share their talents with us," said Paul T. Couch, Dollywood's Director of Entertainment. "A large number of performers began their careers as children in Dollywood productions. In fact, Janelle Arthur played a young Dolly Parton here at Dollywood years before she made it to the American Idol stage. You never know which young star may be found at these auditions."

Children between the ages of 8 and 12 are encouraged to attend the auditions. Performers should be prepared to sing three songs in any style, but must include ballads and up-tempo songs.

Performers are allowed to bring sheet music or CD accompaniment.

The audition process may last up to two hours. Performers are encouraged to dress comfortably enough to move to music.
