KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two West Knox County intersections no stranger to accidents are on the board for makeovers, but the projects have hit a snag and work is unfortunately still months away.

A number of viewers have inquired to Street Wise about the status of the installation of two roundabouts along Bob Gray Road in West Knox County.

One is proposed at the intersection of Bob Gray Road and Mabry Hood Road, and the other would be at Bob Gray Road and Bob Kirby Road.

The roundabouts are needed to correct safety issues along Bob Gray Road while keeping traffic moving at the same time.

Originally it was hoped work on the intersections would have taken place during the summer and fall months, but county officials say there have been mortgage company delays. Officials hope that will wrap up soon.

Nevertheless, work has been pushed until spring 2014.

The good news is that the delay will provide ample time for all the utilities in that area to be relocated. Therefore, when crews  begin construction in the spring, there should be no conflicts.

6 News will stay in contact with county engineers to find out when construction will officially get underway.
