KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Commission voted Monday to approve a retirement settlement for Knox County Internal Auditor Richard Walls.

The audit committee voted to fire Walls in July because they were not satisfied with his work.

Dr. Joe Carcello, the chairman of the audit committee, told 6 News committee members looked at where he was focusing his time and unreconciled differences in audits between Walls and the auditees.

The retirement agreement takes effect September 3 and will give Walls four months of severance pay as well as 18 months of insurance coverage.
