Nashville-based trucking company files suit against Pilot

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One of the trucking companies named in the federal affidavit from the April raid on Pilot Flying J filed a lawsuit against the Knoxville-based company on Thursday.

Nashville-based Western Express claimed it purchased 90 percent of its fuel from Pilot, which amounts to around $1 billion worth of gas in the past eight years.

The suit claims Western Express's dealings with Pilot led to the company taking on millions of dollars in extra debt and expenses.

In May, Western Express President Paul Wieck told 6 News Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam met with him in person to discuss a resolution.

Wieck said at that time he had no plans to file a lawsuit against Pilot Flying J.

A whistleblower alerted federal officials in April that Pilot Flying J was not paying customers properly for rebates they earned for diesel fuel purchases.
