POWELL (WATE) - A man was treated for a gunshot wound Sunday morning after being shot by the owner of the business he was allegedly breaking into.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was breaking into Lett Construction on the 100 block of West Beaver Creek Drive in Powell around 4 a.m. when the business's owner fired shots over the alleged burglar's head as a warning.

At least one of those shots hit the suspect.

The suspect was treated and released at UT Medical Center and is currently being held at the Knox County Detention Facility on a child support warrant and a failure to appear warrant on a theft charge.

Charges from Sunday's incident are pending.
