Early voting for Knoxville primary election begins


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Early voting begins Wednesday morning in Knoxville for the city's primary election.

Early voting continues to Sept. 19.

There are five early voting sites across the city. Four are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Hours differ for the Knox City County Building location.

Only two races are contested.

In District 4, incumbent Nick Della Volpe faces Rick Staples. In District 6, Daniel Brown is being challenged by Charles "Pete" Drew.

Districts 1, 2 and 3 are also on the ballot, but the incumbents are running uncontested.

Election Day is Sept. 24.
