ALCOA (WATE) - A federal grant has been awarded to help defray road construction costs in Pellissippi Place, the technology park where ProNova Solutions is building the first phase of a proton therapy facility.

The Blount Partnership announced Wednesday the $1.4 million grant was awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Road construction is expected to begin in February 2014.

The grant will cover nearly half the total cost.

A ground-breaking ceremony for the ProNova Solutions facility was held last month.

ProNova has said it will employ up to 500 people by 2018, and staffing could grow to more than 2000 by 2023.
