Would-be Knoxville bank robber flees empty-handed

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man failed Wednesday in his attempt to rob a Knoxville bank when he panicked before getting any money.

Knoxville police and FBI agents say the attempted robbery happened at 12:38 p.m. at the Regions bank at 1503 Magnolia Avenue.

The would-be robber demanded money from a teller, but when the teller did not react immediately, the man fled without any money.

Police say the suspect did not show a gun during the attempt.

No one was injured.

The robbery suspect is described as a white male, 5'8" to 5'9" tall  and weight about 160 lbs.

He has sandy-colored hair and a pale complexion. A recent scratch can be seen on the right side of his face.

At the time of the robbery attempt the man was wearing blue and white checkered shorts, a white t-shirt, a tan ball cap and tennis shoes.
