Driver going wrong way on Pellissippi Parkway eludes officer

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A search is underway for the driver of a car who fled a Knox County sheriff's deputy Friday morning. The officer says the driver fled going the wrong way on Pellissippi Parkway.

The pursuit began shortly after 8:45 a.m. when a KCSO motorcycle officer saw a vehicle make an improper turn on Lovell Road.

When the officer pulled his motorcycle beside the vehicle the driver put his car in reverse and fled eastbound.

Reaching Pellissippi Parkway the driver drove up the ramp and headed westbound into oncoming traffic.

The officer elected not to pursue the fleeing driver for public safety reasons.

Deputies are looking for the driver, who is described as a white male in his mid-20s with dark hair. He was driving a red vehicle, possibly a Honda, but emblems identifying the car's make were missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the KCSO at (865) 215-2243 or
