KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Seymour man was arrested Friday for his alleged role in the robbery last month of a Knoxville credit union.

The FBI says Sammy Gibson, 25, is accused of helping Jason Ronald Brown rob the ORNL Federal Credit Union on Aug. 24.

Brown was arrested on Aug. 28.

Investigators say the robber entered the credit Union at 5505 Kingston Pike carrying what he said was a bomb.

After obtaining money from a teller, the robber left the package. Investigators later determined the package was a hoax device.

The FBI has not said what role Gibson played in the robbery.
