Power outage affects thousands of Cumberland Co. residents

CRAB ORCHARD (WATE) - Utility crews worked early Monday morning to restore power to around 9,000 residents in South Cumberland County.

Volunteer Energy Cooperative officials say a broken pole and crossarm led to the failure of a 6.4 mile section of a 69 kV transmission line around 3:12 a.m. Monday.

The line runs between Highway 68 just south of the Homestead community and VEC's Crossville Substation, 1499 Highway 70 East.

The outage affected residents in the Vandever, Midway, Lake Tansai, Crab Orchard, Ozone, Grassy Cove, Alloway, and Homestead communities.

Power to all affected residents was restored just after 11 a.m. CDT.
