Lockdown lifted at Sevier Co. schools after bogus threat

Posted:

SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A county-wide lockdown was lifted Monday afternoon at Sevier County Schools after third-party information about a potential threat turned out to be false.

Sevier County Sheriff's Office officials say a person of interest was located and it was determined that there was no threat.

The lockdown began just before 2 p.m. as a precaution and was lifted around 2:45 p.m.

Capt. Jeff McCarter says there were no arrests and there was never any threat to the schools.
