KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The University of Tennessee's vice president for development and alumni affairs and president of the UT Foundation tendered his resignation Monday, citing family issues.

Johnnie Ray has been with the university since November 2011. University officials say a national search to fill his position will begin at an appropriate time.

The effective date for Ray's resignation has not yet been set.

Lofton Stuart, currently vice president of the UT Foundation, will serve as interim vice president for development and president of the UT Foundation. Stuart also currently serves as executive director of the national UT Alumni Association.
