KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A water main break forced Lawson McGhee Library in downtown Knoxville to close Thursday afternoon.

Crews were walking on Walnut Street Thursday morning at the request of St. John's Church when there was a failure on the fire line that supplies the sprinklers.

Water was cut off to some businesses. The library closed at noon due to the break.

KUB crews were on scene replacing a valve.

The 700 block of Walnut Street between Church Street and Cumberland Avenue is closed while crews complete the work.

Water is expected to be restored by 4 p.m.
