KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Don Dare is on vacation this week, but there is some good news in that there were no failing restaurant health scores. However, there were a few that were pretty close.

Tomo Japanese Restaurant, 7315 Kingston Pike - Grade: 70

Remember, a score below 70 is considered unsanitary.

Inspectors found several violations at Tomo. Raw chicken was being stored on top of a prep unit, mold was found on a strawberry, and numerous insects were seen flying around where onions were stored.

The Stock & Barrel, 35 Market Square - Grade: 70

The Stock & Barrel also received a 70. Here, an inspector noticed three large containers of french fries being kept at 49 degrees. The inspector notes that starches must be kept about 140 degrees or below 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

A wastewater leak was detected at a grease trap connection. Also, an employee was seen talking on his or her cell phone, then touching lids and covering food without first washing his or her hands.

Top inspection scores of the week:

  • The Sweetery, 9430 S. Northshore Drive - Grade: 98
  • Great American Cookie Company - Knoxville Center Mall, 3001 Knoxville Center Drive - Grade: 95
  • Lil' Vinnies, 119 S. Central Street - Grade: 95
  • Roger's Place, 8807 Kingston Pikes - Grade: 94
  • Carleo's, 117 S. Central Street - Grade: 94
  • The Whammy Bar, 8502 Kingston Pike - Grade: 93
