People camped outside of several area cell phone service retailers across Nashville to be first in line for the latest release from Apple.
New versions of iPhones are always much anticipated, but the new 5S and 5C offer never-before-seen features, such as a brand new operating system and color options.
Dozens of people waited in line at the Apple store in the Green Hills Mall and AT&T store on West End Avenue.
Garren Hughes, who arrived at the AT&T location at 11 p.m. Thursday, said he's most excited for the new interface and new finger recognition.
As for the new operating system, he said he likes the updated music player and ways you can pan out and close various apps.
The operating system was released Wednesday, giving current Apple customers a chance to go ahead and upgrade.
The new versions of iPhone 5, however, come with system already installed. The 5S is being released in black, silver, and gold, while the cheaper iPhone 5C is being released in five bright colors.
"I'm going to go with the gold one," Hughes said.
Chris Percy with AT&T said they're all very excited about the new iPhone.
"This is the seventh iPhone launch. We have the 5S and 5C. We have the device for $199, or $27 on AT&T Next, which means you can get a new device after 12 months," he explained.
Percy also said they expect to sell out within a few days, much like other area retailers.
