KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A woman had to be rescued from her car Monday morning after it crashed into an apartment building in South Knoxville.

Knoxville Fire Department officials say the driver, Barbara Neubert, 79, appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency.

She was traveling west on Moody Avenue, reportedly driving herself to the hospital when she lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went airborne, crashing into a building Flenniken Landing Apartments, 508 Flennwood Way, just after 9 a.m., flipping onto its side. Rescue crews were forced to cut the woman from the car.

The damage was limited to the porch area.

The driver's condition has not been released, but she was alert and talking to first responders on the scene.
