More Allegiant flights delayed due to emergency exit slide work

LAS VEGAS (WATE) - Allegiant Air announced Monday that more flights are affected by the immediate inspection and overhaul of many emergency exit slides in its fleet of MD80 jets.

The company has already begun the inspections and expected to complete the process by the end of September. The jets will be placed back in service as soon as possible.

So far, no flights have been affected at McGhee Tyson Airport, but two flights between Tri-Cities Airport in Blountville and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla. were rescheduled for Tuesday.

Allegiant teams are working to accommodate all affected passengers, offering the following compensation:

  • Flights delayed less than four hours: $100 voucher for future travel 
  • Flights delayed 4-6 hours: $150 off voucher for future travel 
  • Flights delayed 6 or more hours: $200 voucher for future travel 
  • Rescheduled flights: Full refund and $200 voucher for future travel
