Man arrested after Crossville pharmacy robbery, pursuit

CROSSVILLE (WATE) - A pharmacy robbery suspect was captured by Crossville City Police Monday after leading officers on a pursuit.

Thomas Samuel Copeland, of Sparta, Tenn., now faces several charges.

Officers were called to The Medicine Shoppe, 23 Woodmere Mall, around 10:30 a.m. for an armed robbery.

When the first officer arrived, an employee was pointing at a blue Buick LeSabre going towards Dairy Queen.

Officer Dustin Lester tried to block the vehicle at the Dairy Queen entrance, but Copeland went around traffic, turning on Highway 127 South.

Officer Lester followed the vehicle attempting to stop it, but the driver would not pull over.

Officers say the vehicle was going around traffic at a high rate of speed while other officers were trying to stop it.

Copeland finally pulled the vehicle over on the south side of town, where he was arrested.

Officers found 14 bottles of oxycodone from the pharmacy and a 9mm handgun in the vehicle.
