KNOXVILLE (WATE) - More areas of Knox County will be sprayed for mosquitos this week after lab reports confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus.

The Knox County Health Department will spray the affected areas on Thursday, Sept. 26 between 9 p.m. and midnight, weather permitting.

Health department officials say temperatures below 55 degrees can interfere with spraying, but temperatures that low are not expected Thursday night.

Signs will be posted in the affected areas to alert residents, who are asked to stay inside and keep pets inside or in the backyard.

The following areas are scheduled to be sprayed:

Milligan Street spray area

  • North Cherry Street, north of Magnolia Avenue, west of North Beaman Street and south of I-40
  • Lakeside and Kirkwood Streets
  • American Avenue

Chapman Highway spray area

  • Arthur Harmon Road
  • Crossfield Drive
  • Konda Drive
  • Karla Drive
  • Kimberlin Heights Road
  • Twin Leaf Lane

Asheville Highway/Carter spray area

  • Carter Mill Subdivision
  • Knox County's Carter Park
  • Strawberry Plains Pike from Asheville Highway to Carter School Road
  • Carter School Road from Strawberry Plains Pike to Asheville Highway
  • Asheville Highway from Carter School Road to Strawberry Plains Pike

Choto/Heron's Point spray area

  • Amber Woods Subdivision
  • Bayview West Subdivision
  • Choto Farms Subdivision
  • Heron's Point Subdivision
  • Livery Subdivision
  • Mallard Bay Subdivision
  • Tanglewood Subdivision
  • Walnut Grove Subdivision
  • The Woods at Montgomery Cove

Cumberland Estates/Robindale Road spray area

  • Cumberland Estates subdivision (all areas within Royalview Road, Robindale Road, Willowdale Drive, Silverhill Drive, Newberry Road, Landon Drive and Palmetto Boulevard)

  • Nickle Road from Western Avenue to High Drive

These areas are scheduled for a follow-up spray on Thursday, Oct. 10.
