LAFOLLETTE (WATE) – A man was found unconscious and in a pool of blood after a beating involving a road rage incident.

Chris Richards says he passed another driver on Beech Street in LaFollette. The move apparently enraged the driver and the passenger so much they followed Richards to his destination. He was beaten black and blue.

"My eye sockets are fractured, my cheek bones are fractured, and my nose is broken," Richards said from his hospital bed.

He says he is in excruciating pain and cannot see out of one eye.

"He got pissed because I got in front of him. It's like NASCAR out there," he said, describing the incident.

Richards says he was driving down Beech Street Wednesday evening, heading to pick his daughter up from work. That's when he says he angered the other driver.

"For passing him, for getting in front of him. I mean he tried to get me at every stop sign. I just tried to go on," Richards added.

When Richards got to his destination, two men approached him. That's the last thing Richards remembers.

"All I saw was a pool of blood, he was in a pool of blood," said Joyce Richards, the victim's daughter who found him unconscious.

Investigators say they have some fuzzy surveillance video and witness accounts from the scene.

"Mr. Richards does appear to have been attacked by a couple people," said Sgt. Brian Tindell with the LaFollette Police Department.

"The doctor said what was done to me could not have been done with a fist. I can see knocking me on my butt, or a fight. But to keep beating me when I'm unconscious and do this kind of damage with a weapon?" Richards said, about being the victim of a bizarre road rage attack.

Richards says the driver of the vehicle was an older man. He had short gray hair and a long gray beard.

The men were in a maroon Dodge Caravan. LaFollette Police are hoping someone may be able to link that vehicle to a suspect.
