JELLICO (WATE) - A Campbell County man was arrested late Saturday night for cutting off the tip of a man's thumb during an argument.

Josiah Fronckowiak, 30, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated criminal trespass and public intoxication.

Witnesses told the Campbell County Sheriff's Office Fronckowiak exited the Starlight Tavern, 127 High Cliff Road, just before 1 a.m. and walked onto the front yard of a nearby home.

They say Fronckowiak approached a group of people on the property, who told him he was not welcome and to leave.

Fronckowiak then left the property, moved his vehicle closer to the property, and returned with a machete.

He then struck victim Preston Thomas, cutting off the tip of his left thumb. Another man, Roger Thomas, received an injury to his leg during the ensuing struggle.

Witnesses say Fronckowiak approached four other people with the machete before being restrained and disarmed by the victims.

Fronckowiak told deputies he went back to the property to defend himself after they made him leave the first time.

He is currently in the Campbell County jail.
