Alleged burglars steal Christmas decorations from Friendsville Town Hall

FRIENDSVILLE (WATE) - The Blount County Sheriff's Office is searching for two people believed responsible for breaking into the Friendsville Town Hall and attempting to steal several items, eventually getting away with two totes believed to contain Christmas decorations.

Deputies say they were called to an outbuilding on the town hall property, 105 Homecoming Circle, Friday morning around 8 a.m.

Public Works representative Brian Amanns said when he arrived at town hall, he saw a gas can sitting on the ground next to a city truck, which he said was unusual.

He then noticed an outbuilding door belonging to Citizens Community Improvement had been pried off.

Security camera footage showed two unknown males attempting to open each of the tool compartments of all Friendsville Public Works Service trucks, town hall doors, and eventually moving behind the town hall out of view of the cameras.

Two totes believed to contain Christmas lights and large Christmas tree ornaments were later discovered missing.

Deputies say the suspects appeared extremely young. A school resource officer was unable to identify the suspects, but did provide a list of Blount County students living in Friendsville and a list of those who were absent from school that day.
