KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Trash and debris inside a home made it more difficult for crews fighting a fire Wednesday morning in an East Knoxville house.

The Knoxville Fire Department said the home caught on fire around 4:30 a.m. on the 5300 block of Mohawk Drive. A neighbor alerted officials of the blaze.

Once on scene, firefighters found heavy smoke with flames spreading through an upstairs rear window.

Security doors made it difficult for fire crews to enter the home. Once inside firefighters discovered trash and debris blocked their way to the center of the fire.

The flames were put out, but crews stayed on scene to monitor hot spots.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated at this time.
