Tennessee Sports Hall Of Fame announces new class

NASHVILLE (AP) - Former basketball stars Popeye Jones and Bridgette Gordon, former major league pitcher Claude Osteen and former NFL linebacker Paul Naumoff headline the newest Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame class.

The new members will be inducted at a May 17 banquet.

Gordon led the Tennessee women's basketball team to national championships in 1987 and 1989. Jones starred at Murray State and played 11 seasons in the NBA. Osteen pitched for six different major league teams and won a World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1965. Naumoff, an All-America linebacker for Tennessee in 1966, played 12 seasons for the Detroit Lions.

The new class also features longtime Nashville sportscaster Hope Hines, former Kingsbury High baseball star Allie Prescott and former Austin Peay football standout and Brentwood Academy coach Carlton Flatt.
