JACKSON (WATE) - Two University of Tennessee at Martin students were arrested for sending a threatening Facebook message to a UT-Knoxville student last month.

Patrick Valdez, 18, and Erin Chism, 18, both of Martin, were each charged with one count of felony harassment and one count of felony conspiracy to commit harassment.

The 27th Judicial District Attorney General requested Tuesday that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation look into allegations that Valdez and Chism were behind a UTK student receiving a threatening message on her Facebook page last month.

TBI determined Valdez wrote and produced a song that made reference to sexually assaulting and killing the victim, killing her family and burning her house down.

Chism then friended the victim on Facebook and sent the song to her. TBI says Valdez had a previous relationship with the victim.

Both suspects are in the Weakley County Jail.

The UT Martin Police Department and Knoxville Police Department assisted in the investigation.
