5 teens arrested after Memphis high school fights

MEMPHIS (AP) - Officials say five teenagers have been arrested after a series of fights broke out among students at a Memphis high school.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chip Washington says Southwind High School was placed on lockdown after fights broke out Friday morning.

Washington says four juveniles and one 18-year-old were arrested in connection with the fights. Charges were not immediately known.

Washington says investigators are looking into whether the fights were related to a shooting Thursday night in which two teens were shot at a Hickory Hill park. The school is about two miles from the park where the shooting occurred.

One teen was shot in the back and the other in the shoulder. They were taken to a hospital in stable condition.
